    One sheep was missing

Jesus told a story about a shepherd with one hundred sheep. One day, one of them was missing. The shepherd left the ninety-nine together and went to look for the one who was lost.

  2. A smiling shepherd carrying the found sheep safely on his shoulders.Page two

    Safe on his shoulders

The shepherd kept looking until he found his sheep. What joy! He lifted it onto his shoulders and carried it home.

    A joy worth sharing

At home, he called his friends and neighbors. He wanted them to share his joy. Jesus said there is joy in heaven, too, when one person turns back to God.

Who needs a place beside you?

Dear Mom,

This week, read Luke 15:3–7 together. The shepherd noticed one missing sheep in a flock of a hundred. At the table tonight, ask, “Did you see someone sitting alone today?” Give your child time to think.

Tomorrow, try one little invitation. A wave across the playground. An empty chair pulled closer. Your child can choose.

A bedtime prayer
Dear God, thank you for loving each of us. Help us notice someone who needs a friend. Amen.
